Merry Monday: "Green" Wedding

“Green” is beginning to make its mark in the wedding industry.  No, not the color, the
concept!  Here are 6 simply ways you can incorporate “green” into your special day.

1. Rent don’t buy.
You can rent everything from your linens and vases to your dress, if you like.  Renting
not only reduces the amount of raw material that is taken from the earth, it can also be
a budget saver while many people think buying wedding decor is less expensive, most time it is not!

2. Think seasonal and local
Ask your designer what flowers are in season and what is available locally.  Thinking
seasonal and local will reduce fuel emissions that are created while shipping flowers,
and also support local farmers and the local economy.

3. Give a green favor.
Give each guest a packet of seeds, a small plant start, or even donate to have a tree
planted in honor of each guest that attends your wedding.

4.  Think vintage.
You can visit your local antique mall, but if that is not your thing, try looking online
for a one of a kind vintage gown, shoes, or jewelry.

5. Think live plants.
When you use live plants you give your environment a wedding gift too!  The key to
making it a truly green idea is making sure that the plants get put back into the
ground, or at least are kept alive!

6. Think Organic.
When planning your dinner plan an organic menu and use flowers that are from a farm that
does not use pesticides.
